Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I get an account?

Click on the “sign up” link on the home page. Your email address will be your username and there are no restrictions on the password.

2. Why can’t I edit a Professional that I added?

Professionals are only entered into the system once and then referenced by members as needed. To ensure that other system entries are not impacted, all changes to Professional and Facilities must be made by the System Administrator. Please send an email to admin@springislandhealth.com

3. Will everyone be able to see the health stories that I enter into the system?

Yes, members will be able to see all health stories entered into the system. When you create a health story, you can select whether or not you want the health story to be anonymous. If you choose “no”, then your name will be displayed when the health story is viewed; if you choose “yes”, your name will not be displayed when the health story is viewed.

4. Can I enter past health stories?

Yes. We encourage you to enter health stories from the past 3 -5 years so that others can learn from your experiences.

5. What is the purpose of the Treatment portion when creating a new health story?

The treatment portion describes the actions taken to resolve the health story. You will likely have multiple treatment entries for each health story. For example, if you have a shoulder injury the first treatment may be to ice the shoulder and limit use; if that does not resolve the problem, the next treatment may be physical therapy.

6. How are the Professional and Facility ratings determined?

The ratings displayed for Professionals and Facilities are an average of the ratings that have been given by the members.

7. How do I rate a Professional or Facility?

There are two ways to provide a review and rating for a Professional or Facility. The first opportunity is after you create a health story. You will be able to enter a review and rating for each Professional and Facility associated with the new health story. Alternatively, you can click on “Show All Professional” or “Show All Facilities” on the Home page and then click on a Professional or Facility. The Professional/Facility information will be displayed along with all of the existing Reviews and Ratings. You can add a new Review and Rating on this page.

8. Can I enter multiple reviews for a Professional or Facility?

Yes. We encourage you to review and rate the different experiences you have. For example, your experience with a Facility’s Emergency room may differ from your experience with their X-Ray department.

9. How do I add a new Specialty?

Send an email to the System Administrator at admin@springislandhealth.com with the new specialty you would like added to the system

10. Can I be notified when new Topics are added to the Community Discussion area?

Yes. Go to "My Account", scroll to the bottom and check the box next to "Subscribe to new topic notifications". If a new Topic(s) is created, you will receive an email at the end of the day with link(s) to the new Topics.

11. What happens if I "subscribe" to a Topic in Community Discussions?

If you "subscribe" to a Topic you will receive an email notification when new posts are made to the topic. The email notifications will be sent once a day at the end of the day. You can choose to "unsubscribe" at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" button on the Topic page.
